These 3 Days Go By Fast!
On Friday ideas are pitched and teams are formed
We kick off the event on Friday night with a group dinner. Participants that wish to pitch a startup idea are invited to the stage for 60 seconds. Once all the ideas have been heard, they get narrowed down by a group vote. Then each attendee chooses the idea they personally want to spend the weekend working on. Teams are formed and the games begin!
The public is welcome at Friday’s opening ceremony
On Saturday you and your team will build a business
Saturday is a flurry of work in the most fun way! This is when teams are asking the most important questions about their idea like, “Who is the ideal customer?”, “What other businesses are trying to solve the same problem?”, “What does our product or service look and feel like?”. Each team will have mentors to steer them in the right direction.
We are closed to the public all day Saturday
On Sunday teams will present their work just like on Shark Tank
Sunday is when everything comes together! Teams finalize the details of their idea and prepare a pitch for the Startup Games judges. On Sunday night, each team takes the stage to present what they’ve been working on. The excitement is sky-high as everyone gets to see what each team has been up to and how each idea stacks up!

Startup Games FAQs
Is Startup Games open to the public?
Yes. Startup games is open to the public on Friday night and again on Sunday night starting at 4:30 PM.
I have an idea for a business, can I pitch it at Startup Games?
Yes! To ensure all teams start on an even playing field, your idea must only exist in your head (no physical work is allowed prior to the games). If your idea is something you haven’t started building, then this is a great venue to pitch it!
Do I have to pitch an idea to participate?
No. Most participants will join teams built around other people’s ideas. There is no pressure to come prepared with an idea to pitch.
What startups or business ideas will be built over the weekend?
All the ideas come from Startup Games participants; the ideas that get worked on are the audience favorites. We don’t know what the startup ideas will be until the event starts.
Do I have to stay at the venue the whole weekend?
No. You can come and go as your please, but we recommend you clear your schedule for the weekend. You’re likely to find you won’t want to leave! Most participants head home each night to sleep, but you’re welcome to pull all-nighters as well — the arena will be open for the duration of the event.
Will there be food?
Yes! Your ticket price includes all your food, beer, and coffee for the weekend.
What trophies are up for grabs?
Awards are won in a couple of categories:
• First, second, and third place (chosen by our Startup Games judges)
• “Audience Choice”
• “Best Pivot” (chosen by our Startup Games coaches)
I’m not interested in starting a startup. Is this event still for me?
The goal of Startup Games is to build excitment around new businesses. With that said, lots of participants view this as a unique way to make new friends. Whatever your motivation, Startup Games is a fun, fast-paced, and exciting way to spend the weekend.
What happens if I buy a ticket then can’t attend? Is there a refund policy?
We’re happy to refund 100% of your ticket if you cannot make it to the event. This policy is good through October 27th, 2024. Due to the cost of live events we’re only doing 50% refunds the week of the event (October 28th – November 3rd).
