Frequently Asked Questions

How long will I have to pitch?

You will have 10 minutes to pitch, followed by 10 minutes of Q&A from the audience.

I'm just getting started, is pitch breakfast a good fit for me?

Absolutely! Pitch Breakfast is all about practice and helping you get your idea into the world. We have some seasoned pitches come through, but mostly we have people just like you starting out and testing the waters to see if their idea is viable.

I've been in business for awhile, can I still pitch?

Yes, whether you’re launching a new product or just brushing up your pitch for a presentation, you can apply to pitch.

Do you have to be in business to pitch?

Nope! This is the perfect place to test an idea and get real life feedback before you jump in head first.

What's required to pitch?

Great question. In order to pitch you’ll need to put together a 10 minute pitch, along with a slide deck to accompany it. You will also be required to do a practice pitch prior to pitch breakfast.

Will I be pitching to investors at Pitch Breakfast?

Pitch breakfast is not an investor pitch, and is not the same as pitching for the Shasta Angels. It is not guaranteed any investors will be in the room, but it isn’t uncommon for one of our local angels to stop by.

Do I have to live in Redding to be able to pitch?

Due to pitch breakfast being temporarily online, we’re able to accomodate pitches from all across the world!

My idea is a nonprofit – can I still pitch it?

Short answer – probably! Shoot us an application and we’ll see if you’re a good fit.

Does the audience sign NDA's?

We get this question a lot. Our audience does not sign NDA’s, but we will also say this has never been an issue. You’re uniquely passionate about your idea, and it’s going to take a lot of work to get it off the ground – the likleyhood of someone in the audience having that same gusto is extremely unlikely (they mostly have their own ideas to worry about).

If you’re concerned about privacy, reach out to the SBDC for advising on patenting your idea and otherways you can protect your idea. Otherwise, pitch breakfast might not be for you.
